If you should have paid prevailing wage on a job within the past year but did not know at the time how do you make it right?

On a very general level, self-reporting a violation or finding some other way to take the problem head-on will be a better idea than hiding from a problem or assuming it will go away on its own. So it's good that you're trying to get out in front of the issue.
However, I'm not particularly familiar with the ins and outs California prevailing wage compliance - and before making a decision, it'd be smart to discuss the matter with someone very familiar with California prevailing wages. So, it might be helpful to instead reach out to a local California construction attorney, or to reach out to a California prevailing wage consultant who might be more familiar with situations like this one.
