How to I dispute an invalid lean on my property?

IdahoMechanics Lien

Hello, I have a contractor that is not willing to honor our final contract. The contract states that if the work is not completed in full to customer satisfaction by certain day/ time then both the contractor and consumer (me) agree to a final settlement payment. The contractor, not having completed the work is threatening to place a lien on my property and is now unwilling to honor the final settlement payment and demanding more money than what is in the contract for final payment. What do I do? Thank you!

If a contractor records an invalid lien you can file a lawsuit to quiet title and have the lien released. Alternatively, you can wait to see if the contractor files a lawsuit to foreclose the lien and then file a counterclaim for quiet title if the contractor does so. The contractor must file a lien foreclosure suit within 6 months of the date the lien was recorded or the lien is invalid.
