How to get money from a general contractor

OhioPayment Disputes

We did a metal roof on a home first of March, a contractor subcontracted the job to us, its been almost 3 months now and still haven't recieved anything, I can't file a lien on the property because I know the homeowner paid the contractor he just hasn't paid us, we paid for materials as well, how do we get our money?

The short answer is, you must file a lawsuit against the general contractor.

If you are correct that the GC was paid in full by the homeowner and did not pay your company, then that is a clear violation of Ohio's Prompt Payment Act. Violations of the act entitle the subcontractor to the subcontractor's attorney fees, as well as 18% penalty interest against the GC (or other higher-tier contractor).
