According to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation ("DBPR") website, painting won't require a DBPR license. Though, there may be some local licensing and permitting regulations to keep in mind - and a simple business license may be a part of that. For more insight into how to start up a painting business, this resource should be helpful: How To Start A Painting Business In Florida. Further, if you do have additional questions about licensing rules in Florida, a service like Licenses, etc. might be useful.

Painting licenses would be governed by the local municipality where you do work. In Orlando, you should check out the licensing requirements for the City of Orlando and Orange County. If you do work around the outside of Orlando, you may also want to take a look at the licensing requirements for Seminole County as well. While state licensing requirements do not apply to painting, local licenses are important and failing to get one can have consequences. If you want to make sure you're properly licensed, consider engaging a construction attorney to assist with helping you through the process.
