I have a lien that is reaching a deadline. I thought the lawsuit was filed when when sent in the lien?

The mechanic’s lien process involves several steps. The filing and service of the lien is the first major step which is called “perfecting” the lien. Once the lien is filed and served, the next important step is the initiation of a lawsuit to foreclose the lien.
