How to become a licensed electrical contractor in Florida

FloridaLicenses

Hi! I would like to ask you: I am an licensed electrical contractor in California since 1988 and am considering to move to Florida soon. Can you please tell me how I can become licensed in the state of Florida as an electrical contractor? Thanks much, Thomas Tripolt

Even when previously licensed in another state, it will be necessary to apply for a Florida license. And, since Florida doesn't have a reciprocation agreement with California, that process might not be the most streamlined. With that being said, here's the Florida Department of Business and Regulations site for applying for an electrical contractor license. According to that site, it should be as simple as showing your prior experience, passing an exam, paying a fee, and filling out an application. And, if you'd like help pursuing your license, a license consulting business like Licenses, etc. might be helpful.
