How should I start the lien process.

GeorgiaMechanics Lien

I am a laborer that was hired by a sub contractor doing flooring, showers and floor tile. This job was an insurance claim through a bank. I'm owed $1617. The sub contractor has been fired before finishing the job but has had alot of draws and paid me nothing. I worked from mid March to mid April.

If you want to file a lien, be aware that your deadline is 90 days after the day you last provided labor to the project. In view of the relatively small amount of your claim, you would probably be better off by using Levelset's flat fee arrangement. You might also send a notice/warning letter to the subcontractor and the GC, as well as the owner, making them aware of your unpaid claim. This could create pressure to get you paid.
