How long to file in Michigan

TexasBack Charges

My father owes me 10,000 from working in Michigan and never paid me. It was over 10 years ago is there any possibility of getting some of that money back.

Hello,

This is Texas. Under Texas law, your statute of limitations for breach of contract was blown over six years ago. Your deadline to file the liens were blown about ten years ago. You will want to re-ask your question in the Michigan section but, from where I sit, you are completely out on any form of judicial remedy.

Probably not.  What I say here is based on Federal and Texas law.  Michigan may have some unique provision which should be addressed by a Michigan lawyer.  That said, it is highly unlikely you can file a claim either with a court or a state agency.  For example, if you worked as an employee the statute of limitations for the Fair Labor Standards Act, a federal law, has long expired; i.e.
you are far past the time limit for suing for wages by Federal law.  If you worked pursuant to a contract, you are also far beyond the statute of limitations that most states set for suing under a contract.   Again, you need a response from a Michigan lawyer.
