How long do we have after bond is filed around Mechanic's Lien?

CaliforniaBonding Off Lien

We filed a Mechanic's Lien and a Bond was filed 8/20/18. How long do we have to enforce our lien rights?

That's a good question! Generally, a California claimant who files a lien must enforce their lien within 90 days of filing the lien. If the lien is bonded off, the party who bonds off the lien must provide notice that the lien was bonded. Once the lien has been bonded off, the claimant will have up to 6 months after receiving notice of the bond to file a lawsuit against the bond that was filed in place of the lien. Of course, during this time, a claimant is free to negotiate with the other parties to try and resolve the dispute without need for legal action. It sounds like you probably have a good handle on mechanics lien bonds, but this article could be helpful: Primer on Mechanics Lien Bonds and Bonding Off A Mechanics Lien.
