How long do I have to wait to give notice of lien can it be at the moment the owner doesn’t want to pay or do I have to wait a certain amount of time

In Kansas a lien can be filed once payment is due and not paid. Generally, if you are a contractor the lien must be within 120 days of last furnishing labor or materials and 60 days if you are a subcontractor. The time limits may differ if you are dealing with residential property.
