How does a general contractor set up a contract with a homeowner given this new law in the homeowner situation?

This pertains to the new lien law changes for Georgia that take effect January 1, 2021.

Rarely do we see homeowners requiring lien waivers. I think it’s a great idea. If I were building a house, I would require a lien waiver, but I don’t really see those. So as a general contractor, if you’re a home builder, you probably do want them from your subs. There’s a deadline as to when the subs can come back and actually lien your project. I would put that as a requirement in my contract with the subs.
