How do we enforce a lien in NY?

New YorkLien Foreclosure

We filed a lien against a property on 7/2/2020 and can not get any action on payment. What can we do now to try to get our money as the hotel has all the goods and refuses to pay blaming it on COVID.

Greetings. It appears you have not been paid money due to you. Filing a lien is only the first step in the process of collecting the money owed to a contractor. A contractor must next file a lawsuit in court to "foreclose the lien". Alternatively, the contractor may file a lawsuit claiming "breach of contract". The contractor may also also claim both at the same time. Depending on the size of the amount owed to the contractor, it may be best to hire a lawyer to file the lawsuit. If the size is small, then the contractor may do it themself in small claims or civil court. Please contact a good New York lawyer today for futher guidance.
