It might be helpful to consult a local construction attorney if you need to make a legal claim against your contractor. They'll be able to review your circumstances and project documentation then advise on how to move forward and what claims might be most successful in your particular situation. Plus, it's just good practice to be represented by an attorney when making legal claims - and, for a business to bring claims against a contractor, a lawyer would likely be required anyway. For a list of California construction law experts that might be a good fit: Construction Payment Experts in California. In terms of what types of claims might be available, breach of contract claims, defect claims, or claims against the contractor's license bond may all be on the table - but for ultimate clarity there, it'd be wise to consult a California construction attorney.
