How do I go about finding a lawyer to assist in filing a mechanics lien in Michigan as an out of state contractor.

OhioMechanics Lien

My company is a service company that did work at the Monroe Power station in Monroe, Michigan for a contractor who is not wanting to pay. I am looking for a local Lawyer and was hoping you could help with directing me to someone local in Monroe, Michigan.

Levelset actually has a page where you can find Michigan experts in construction payment, including Michigan construction attorneys (such as Peter J. Cavenaugh, who's been active here on the Expert Center): Construction Payment Experts in Michigan. Other than that, unfortunately, I'm not personally familiar with any Michigan construction attorneys who might be able to assist in filing a Michigan mechanics lien. While an attorney may be helpful in filing a mechanics lien in some situations, keep in mind that an attorney isn't necessarily required when filing mechanics liens - which Levelset discusses here: What Does a Construction Lawyer Do, and When Do I Need One? Finally, if you'd like more information on how to pursue a Michigan mechanics lien claim, the following resources should be valuable: - How to File A Michigan Mechanics Lien – Step By Step Guide To Get You Paid - Michigan Mechanics Lien Guide and FAQs
