How do I find out what the prevailing wage is for a subcontractor we will be using for a General Contractor Project

CaliforniaPrevailing Wages

GC asked if we will participate in DIR prevailing wage in our pricing for an install of our security system. We hire a subcontractor that places the system on project in 1 day and we monitor the system from afar. How do I find out what the prevailing wage requirement would be for California for this type of work?

The California Department of Industrial Relations website has a helpful tool for navigating prevailing wage determinations, which you can access here: Director's General Prevailing Wage Determinations. Further, the Panahi Law Group has an excellent resource on how to determine what prevailing wages apply to the specific work being done: A Quick Guide to Prevailing Wages in California. That resource provides a little more background into how to effectively use and navigate the California wage determinations. Once familiar with that, it should be easier to sort out exactly which rates will apply for the type of work being done. I hope that's helpful! Unfortunately, while I'm relatively familiar with California's prevailing wage laws, I'm not versed in how to determine exactly which rates will apply for specific work. For more general information on California's prevailing wage laws: Understanding the California Prevailing Wage Requirements.
