How could you show WIP graphically

AlabamaConstruction Accounting

Hi guys, I'm a Finance manager working withing a fairly large construction and civil engineering business based in London. I've been trying to get the WIP message out and the have been playing around with ways of showing this graphically as this seems to be what the commercial teams seem to follow best. However there doesn't appear to be a way of 'showing' them in a chart / graph that I can think of, nor one which is out there in the public domain. My question is whether you have any suggestions on how best to get this information from the WIP schedule into a meaningful chart?

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not an expert on the details of maximizing a Work in Progress (WIP) schedule. And, unfortunately, I'm not quite confident enough to recommend a particular way to chart information from the WIP schedule. With that being said, I will note that it appears many project managers find that Gantt charts are exceedingly valuable in tracking the progress of complex projects. And, there may be a useful way to track and compare both the expected progress of the project and the actual progress through one or more Gantt charts. Though, admittedly, this is a bit of a shot from the hip. You can learn more about how to use Gantt Charts in evaluating projects here: The Ultimate Guide to Gantt Charts | ProjectManager.com. Unfortunately, I'm afraid I'm not quite sure how else to best represent the information contained in the WIP schedule. But, the resources I've linked below seem promising: - Overview of Chart Templates - The Field Guide to Construction WIP Reports (Video)
