How can we get payment for services rendered?

Colorado

We are a steel detailing company that had contracts with a steel fabricator (Flawless Steel Welding). We had struggles getting payments for 2 other projects, however it was paid after filing pre-liens, however the last project we did for them we were not paid, and we did send out a pre lien hoping they would pay. We wanted to file a mechanics lien, however the last time we performed work on this project was back in April 26, 2022. We deserved payment for this project, because we provided the drawings they needed to get fabrication approval and they were able to fabricate the steel and install it. What are my options of pursuing payment?

You can sue. There could be other options depending on the facts, but it sounds like your primary path is a lawsuit, if this does not settle. If this is over $25,000, then it must be a district court lawsuit.

The first and best step is to hire an attorney to review the contract, the facts, and evidence and make a demand and for them to try to resolve the dispute prior to filing suit. Feel free to contact us if you want to discuss this further.

We definitely would like to sue if that's our only option. We are owed only $3,800 for our services, so I'm not sure if that would go to court. Are there any attorneys you would recommend in the Denver/Metro area?
