Hello,I have the paperwork to file a mechanic's lien in arizona. I need to know where to file it and what the fees are and if it needs to be done in person or through mail.

ArizonaMechanics Lien

I have the receipt of the 20 day preliminary notice and need to file the mechanics claim. It is for a property in Maricopa County Arizona. I have the Mechanic's Lien filled out and notarized, I just need to know the proper method of filing it. Does it need to be in person or through mail, what is the fee and where does it go? Thank you

Mechanics lien filings for work performed in Maricopa County must be filed in the Maricopa County Recorder's office. Levelset actually has a dedicated page for that office, which you can access here: Maricopa County Recorder Mechanics Lien Filing.

Where is the Maricopa County Recorder's office?

It appears that the Maricopa County Recorder actually has 2 offices where a lien may be filed: (1) A Main downtown Office (located at 111 S. Ave in Phoenix, AZ 85003); and the Southeast Mesa Office (located at 222 E. Javelina in Mesa, AZ 85210 - though the Mesa office only provides Kiosk recording services). Both offices are open from 8 to 5 on Monday - Friday.

What are the Maricopa County mechanics lien filing fees?

It appears that the Maricopa County recording fee is $30. You can read more about the fees associated with the Maricopa County Recorder at the Levelset Maricopa County page mentioned in the first paragraph of this answer.

How to file a mechanics lien in Maricopa County

Levelset has another article that should be helpful here: How to File an Arizona Mechanics Lien – A Step by Step Guide to Get You Paid. As mentioned in that article, Arizona mechanics liens may be filed in person, by mail, or electronically in Maricopa County. Note, though, that the fastest way to get a Maricopa mechanics lien filed will be to bring it to the recorder, yourself, and have it filed. That way, if there's any issue with the form or the filing fees, they can be addressed immediately, without delay. Electronically filing a mechanics lien in Maricopa County is fast, too - but it does require creating an account in order to do so.
