I am NOT an Alabama attorney.. however in Michigan the last day of work at the site is the key date for filing a construction lien.. it must be filed within 90 days from that date.. if not even if the debt is not yet due an payable by contract the lien must be filed or the lien is invalid.

The deadlines for filing a lien in Alabama vary depending on the claimant's role on the project but are all measured from the last date of furnishing labor/materials to the project. General contractors have 6 months, subs/suppliers have 4 months, and laborers have just 30 days to file their claims. The law governing these deadlines can be found under Ala. Code §35-11-215:

"by every original contractor within six months and by every journeyman and day laborer within 30 days, and by every other person entitled to such lien within four months, after the last item of work or labor has been performed or the last item of any material... has been furnished."
