does tn allow notice of non-responsibility to avoid mechanics lien?

Tennessee

i am going to fire a painter in Crossville TN. I will pay him for what he has done even tho part of work/expense was not authorized by me in advance despite numerous text msgs requesting estimate. Does TN allow me to file a notice of non responsibility to proactively avoid a mechanics lien? I am not going to stiff him for what has been done, but I do not trust him - there was a ceiling/sheet rock repair required and he had unskilled laborers hang the sheet rock which looks like crap and was not installed properly. i do not want him in my house nor to do any more work inside or start other exterior projects we discussed and try to charge me. i have sent him texts to have written instruction to not start any more work, nor do anymore interior work.... should i contact a RE atty? my house is in Crossville TN, i am currently living in COlorado
