Does the contractor have a right to file a mechanics lien without a contract?

If I agreed upon work with a licensed contractor and no contract was ever provided, are they able to file a mechanics lien in mohave county, arizona? Work to be done was outlined on a crude drawing and no dispute as to what was to be done was raised until the last phase, when the contractor said the remaining work was not in the original agreement/bid and that is was an additional $3,500. Work started 3/1/2021 and ended in the dispute on 1/7/2022

That depends on additional factors. Yes a contactor can record a mechanic's lien without a written contract, UNLESS the work was done on an owner-occupied residence. In that case, a written contract is required between the owner and the contractor who is recording the lien. The contractor must have also mailed a valid and timely preliminary 20-day notice. No preliminary 20-day notice, no lien rights for the contractor. There are other requirements at play, but I would need more details and the two I have described above are the big ones.

Without the initial 20-day notice, the contractor will have no authority to file a lien. There are further factors to consider, and I would need more information to discuss them, but the two I have outlined above are the most important. geometry dash

Yes, but his or her lien will be invalidated if the payment isn't made.
