Arizona preliminary notices are governed by ARS §33-992.01. Under this statute, the 20-day notice must be sent by either first-class mail (with a certificate of mailing), or by registered or certified mail with return receipt requested. Although service is considered complete at the time the mail is deposited, Arizona still requires some sort of proof that the notice was given. This is done by providing either an acknowledgment of receipt with a signature or an Affidavit of Proof of Service. Here are some articles that may prove useful:

A person required to give preliminary twenty day notice pursuant to § 33-992.01 is entitled to enforce the lien rights provided for in this section only if he has given such notice and has made proof of service pursuant to § 33-992.02. 33-992
