Does a release of lien remove a mechanics lien from property or must a satisfaction of lien be filed with the county?

In order to remove a filed mechanics lien from the owner's property title, a lien release (also called a satisfaction of lien) must be filed in the record - just like the mechanics lien was filed. Submitting a mechanics lien waiver, in and of itself, won't remove a mechanics lien that's been filed against the project property.
