Does a document need to be filed with the city/county to negate a lien that was filed?

CaliforniaLien Releases

I (subcontractor) filed a lien on 4/7/20 but have since received full payment. I provided the client (general contractor) with an unconditional waiver and release on final payment. Do you need to file another document with the city to clear the lien from the property? Or is the general contractor's responsibility?

The person or entity that recorded the lien, which is you in this case, will need to record a release of mechanic's lien at the County Recorder's Office.
