I'm starting a handyman service as a part-time job...single membered LLC. I was told I need to register for a Home Improvement with the board of contractors although I'm not doing any work that exceeds $7,500. I wouldn't have a problem registering but the worker compensation and general liability insurance is very high together. Is there anyway around this without get fined? Secondly, I'm not sure what book keeping system to use. I'm looking for something fast and simple at no cost?
