Do I get paid for prevailing wage project?

CaliforniaPrevailing Wages

Hi, I worked with a tile/stone sub contractor and we are currently working for JW Marriot in Anaheim but our office is at Calvert and Van nuys California. And I’m working on creating shop drawings for that Project and that project is a prevailing wage project. And my company always ask me for how many hours I worked for this Proj. alone and ask for my rate. But I don't get the “prevailing wage rate” or any changes in my pay. Is my company suppose to pay me the prevailing wage rate? Or They don't need to since I’m not going back and forth to Anaheim and I’m just working in our office? But then why do they have to keep track of my hours and my rate for that specific project ? And my boss said that “He needs to get paid for that so he told me to give all the hours I worked for that project. Why does he needs to be paid for that but not me? Thanks

To best determine whether prevailing wages are required for the specific work you're performing, it'd be a good start to ask your employer or even the public entity whether you, as an employee, are entitled to prevailing wages. Generally, though - all parties to a California public works projvect (and their employees) are entitled to prevailing wages. Unfortunately, though, I don't have a plethora of experience regarding California prevailing wages and off-site work (like the creation of shop drawings). For further insight, it might be helpful to contact the labor research and statistics office, or to reach out to an expert on California prevailing wages, such as, potentially, one of our California Construction Payment Experts.
