California mechanics lien claims can generally not be renewed by the claimant, themselves. However, if the claimant and the property owner agree to extend the timeframe for enforcing the lien, then they can both sign then file a Notice of Credit - and that will extend the timeframe for filing suit to enforce the lien by 180 days.
