Can workers put a lien on my house?

IowaMechanics Lien

If I hired a company to rebuild my porch and paid the company in full when they finished , can the workers put a lien against my house if they aren't paid by their boss?

Probably not, if they're employees. If, however, they're independent contractors, then they may be able to. There are notice and filing deadlines they must meet too.

If they are strictly employees of the contractor, probably not. But if they’re contractors hired by the contractor/company you hired, they could be considered subcontractors and would have the right to file a lien. There are deadlines for notice and filing the lien that would have to be met as well.
