Can we try and collect payment from the bond for a job that we didn't prelim?

CaliforniaCollections

If we have a job that was completed in 2021 that we didn't prelim and haven't been paid, can we collect from the bond? Or what options are we left with?

In order to answer your question, you need to provide more information. Is this a public works project or a private works project? This matters, because the rules and remedies can be different. Also, when exactly in 2021 did the project finish? Was a Notice of Completion or Acceptance recorded? When was it recorded? It is likely that you have no remedy other than to bring a lawsuit for breach of contract against the person or entity you have a contract with.

Place the past due account with a certified commercial collection agency licensed and bonded to collect in CA. This can be collected on a contingency bases so you are not putting up any money to get it collected and the agency only earns a percentage of the collection. If for any reason it's not collected, you will owe nothing for the effort and you can always file suit. Best regards getting paid, Steve
