Can we place a lien?

California

We have clients who we have done service work for. We did not send a 20-day prelien. The work was all Time & Materials. We had no idea how much the final amount of the invoices would be. Now they are not paying us. What is our legal rights? Can we still lien the property? Megan

There is insufficient information to answer your question. Is this a private project or a public project? Do you have a contract with the Owner or with a General Contractor? When did you complete your work? What kind of work did you perform? These are the kinds of questions that an attorney is going to need to know in order to advise you.

It is a private residence. We do not have a contract. All via email and phone calls with the owners directly. We upgraded their internet, fixed the Sonos issues, worked on two of their homes they own. The owners owe us a total of $8600
