Can the electrical company file a lien against us

CaliforniaConstruction Contract

We are interior designers. Our client hired an electrical contractor. We were not part of this contract. Or consulted in the matter. It’s a condo building with HOA’s and this electrical company works the building. He was delaying the project because we were at the mercy of his scheduling. Other of our vendors were starting to get irate with the delays. In particular the cabinet man who wanted to start charging store for the cabinets and additional fees for the transport of the cabinets. Also the floor guy needed to schedule or he would put us in a holding pattern. Consulting with the client she decided to have us hand two sconces and two pendant lights so that we could proceed . The electrical company said that one of their employees had developed COVID and he could not give us a date. Now he is wanting to have the client pay for hanging the sconces and pendants($2,000.00 dollars) anyway because she never gave him a proper change of order. He is saying that it was a breach of contract and he needs to get paid regardless of whether he performed the work. He went as far as to say tour designers should pay for it. Even though we did no hire him and the client gave the ok and paid the other electrical team. What are my legal rights so that he does not place a lien on my company. I need to write a letter. Thank you, Beatrice

Liens are filed against property owners, not interior designers.
