Can the contractor foreclose on my home

CaliforniaForeclosure

My contractor failed to complete work on my house so I didn’t pay the final 10K . He filed a mechanics lien on my home... My property is worth over 1.6 mil with a 1 mil mortgage. Can the contractor force a foreclosure on my home?

Yes

The contracture can foreclose on your property by perfecting his lien. Act now to stop that from happening.

The GC would have to file a lawsuit against you to foreclose his lien within 90 days of the lien recording date and I doubt that the contractor would do that over a $10K lien. It would cost him much more than that to file suit against you. He could file suit against you in Small Claims Court but as a business he could only recover $5K against you, and he cannot foreclose a lien in Small Claims Court.
