Can I send a notice of commencement to a corporation?

FloridaNotice of Commencement

We are a GC getting ready to complete work on a building owned by a corporation. We wish to get a notice of commencement on file but are unsure if we can send a noc to a corporation.

Notices of commencement should be filed before a project begins and are filed in the public record. They are generally not sent to anyone. You might be thinking of a notice to owner. Notices to owner should be sent within 45 days of starting a project and can be sent to a corporation.

Mr. Lambert, We have not started the job yet, we are still working out fine details so we wanted to include a NOC with the basic start-up docs. The question is, can the NOC be made out to a Corporation or do we need an individuals name? Thank you.

Yes, you can list the corporation as the owner of the property. Just make sure that the person signing the NOC on behalf of the corporation is a corporate officer or other authorized individual.
