Can I personally lien a property my business owns?

FloridaLien on Funds

I loaned personal funds to my business (partnership) to purchase a fix and flip property. Although I handle all of our finances, closings, etc...I'm worried that my partner will not repay my personal funds after the closing. We did not complete a loan doc for my funds (an error in hindsight). Can I put a personal lien on the property my business owns to ensure I get repaid?

Assuming that the property title is in a corp., LLC, etc. or other entity and not in your partner's name, a construction lien would not be the correct means to secure payment of your loan to the business. The correct instrument would be a mortgage on the property. That way your personal loan would be repaid at closing when the property is sold.
