Can I file a mechanics lien against a GC if there is a "pay if paid" clause in the contract? And does the answer vary?

We are an electrical contractor and are a subcontractor on many large scale projects. This is just a hypothetical question at this time but we are reviewing our contract policies, and many of our contracts have "Pay if Paid" language.
