Can I file a mechanic’s lien

Washington

I did a job for a contractor almost a year ago. I seeked legal assistance and still no liens have been filed and are no closer to getting paid than I was when I did the job. How long after a job is complete can you file a lien on the project?

Liens must be filed within 90 days of last day worked. You also need to comply with various notice requirements, although if you were working directly for the GC as a subcontractor you may have been ok with that.

Thank you Joseph! Would I have any rights to file anything if it’s almost been a year? Anything you would recommend? We are talking about $73,000 and haven’t seen a dime.

You can still pursue the claim, you just would not have a lien against the property. You can sue the party you were in contract with.
