Can I file a lien outside of the time limit in new jersey

New YorkMechanics LienPayment Disputes

We (based in NYC )provided $35k worth of signage to a company that went out of business. Prior to going under, they promised that they were just awaiting funding before paying us for our services in New Jersey. Now the new owner of the project is not responding to any emails or phone calls. The ability to file a lien expires in new jersey after 90 days of completing the work, but they had continued to promise us payment for a long time after that. What options do we have?

Generally time limits on liens are strictly construed. However, you may want to retain counsel for specific assistance.

Since you are not getting paid, let a certified commercial collection agency licensed and bonded in NJ work the account to determine who is liable and if the account can be collected. This can be done on a contingency fee bases so if nothing is collected it won't cost you anything for the efforts and the report as to why it's not collectible. If you would like I can review your contract and quote the collection. Best regards getting paid, Steve
