Would like to know if I am able to file a lien. Installed a garage door and motor for a contractor on 9/17. Total price to be paid was $3000. Normally on a job of this much a 50% deposit is required before ordering the door. This was waived because I had just installed a door and motor on another property for this builder with no issues. I was paid within a couple of days. Once door was installed we notice that the color was not what we thought it should be so I contacted the manufacturer. They came back and said that the color was correct. Told builder I would pay to have door painted the color he wanted. He stated he didn't want a painted door. Builder said he would send me $1500 and offered me another $1000 dollars to keep the door. Agreed to discount the door $250 to make up for the color issue.Received $1500 on 10/15. This leaves a balance of $1250 I have been trying to collect. Spoke with builder on Saturday Oct 31 and he stated balance would be paid on Nov 3. Still no payment. Has not responded to phone calls and text messages.
