Can I become a plumber's apprentice in Fl? I have a non violent felony from 1998.

FloridaLicenses

PTAC - Burglary 1998 My involvement is allowing stolen property at my parents. I didn't actually commit the crime, think of doing it, I didn't know it was going to happen, etc. A relative made a bad decision and brought stolen property to our home. I'm looking to relocate my family to Fl from Wisconsin. We have family there. I'm looking into possible employment opportunities. Thank you for your time.

In Florida, individuals who have been convicted of a felony aren't necessarily blocked from obtaining a contractor's license of some sort. However, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations (DBPR) will run a background check when considering an application for licensure. So, it's extremely likely that a prior felony would at least come up during the review process. Though, there may be an opportunity to mitigate the effect of that felony with a written explanation, etc. Admittedly, though, I don't have experience in applying or helping others apply for a Florida contractor license. For questions about Florida licensing, reaching out to a professional or business who's used to navigating those requirements - like Licenses, etc. - might be more helpful. Or, reaching out directly to the Florida DBPR might provide clarity.
