Can a unlicensed/registered contractor (boone county ky requires license) put a lien on your property?

KentuckyLicensesRight to Lien

if the county you live in requires a occupational license to be a contractor, and you do not have a license can you file a mechanics lien in Kentucky? Also if the unlicensed contractor puts a lien on your property? can they do that if the contract was with an insurance company? Kentucky

First, note that mechanics liens may be filed even if someone else - like the insurance company - was required to make payment. Levelset discusses that here: Do You Still Have Lien Rights If Someone Besides the Owner Is Paying for the Work? Regarding licenses - it doesn't look like the Kentucky mechanics lien statute states that unlicensed contractors cannot file mechanics liens. Though, the licensing requirements for design professionals seem to be strict. Finally, I think these resources will be useful: (1) I Just Received a Mechanics Lien Threat – What Should I Do Now?; and (2) A Mechanics Lien Was Filed on My Property – What Do I Do Now?
