Can a Mechanic's Lien be filed if no work has been done and no materials delivered?

CaliforniaMechanics Lien

Homeowner contracted with Home Improvement Contractor to install new front entry door assembly. Contractor delivered damaged door assembly and took it back. Homeowner told contractor not to reorder door as the product was not good quality and the homeowner wanted to cancel the project. Contractor went ahead and reordered door assembly and is telling homeowner that they will file lien if they are not paid.

No, a lien cannot be properly recorded against a property unless the materials are incorporated/installed into the home. ---CN
