Can a GC bond out of a lien?

Colorado

Good Morning, I am threatening a lien on a property I was not paid work for. When I told the GC he laughed and said he could get a bond and have the lien released in ten minutes. Doesn't this have to be settled some how between him and I before it can be released?

Good morning, I am sorry on the nonpayment issue. To your question, yes the contractor can bond around the lien. That is entirely allowable. The lien you claim is then attached to the surety bond and you must proceed to foreclose in the time required or that lien will expire. It says you are a subcontractor. You should speak with a CO attorney so they can provide other collection strategies such as utilizing the trust fund statute and notice to disburser.
