Yes, a mechanics lien claimant can still file their lien claim even if there's a dispute over what they're owed. In fact, that's an extremely common source of payment disputes that give rise to liens. More on that here: Do I Still Have Lien Rights If There Is a Dispute as to What I Am Owed?
