Hello I am trying to find out the best legal way to use a contractors roofing license .is it better to do it as a dba or to add the contractor to the company with a percentage ?
It is illegal in Florida to "use" a contractor's license unless he or she is a W-2 employee or he or she owns at least 25% of the company. Even then, you will need to file an application with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to name him/her as your qualifying agent, in order to formally associate their license with your company.
