In Michigan a NOTICE OF FURNISHING is needed to be filed on any nongovernmental construction job .. generally within 20 days of the first date of work on (or first day you supply something to) a jobsite. That said.. if no notice of commencement is posted on a job you can arguably wait without a significant penalty. The only critical date you need to follow is that you MUST file a construction lien within 90 days of the last date of work on (or last date you supplied anything to) a jobsite.
