Owners file an insurance claim and have an attorney who just got them paid a settlement of 80k from our insurance company. The owners have not allowed us to retrieve >$5000 of our owned tools and equipment since telling us that we are "off the project until further notice" on February 2, 2021. This was immediately after having us quickly handle the immediatel work related to the water damage claim by way of us removing the wet drywall, drying/dehumidifying the areas damaged by water to the satisfaction of their newly added 3rd party inspector, and replacing and finishing the drywall. Now, August 13, 2021 (6months without our tools and equipment?) Their attorney will not release our property until we sign his release....Read More

The contractor I hired filed M/lien but doesn’t even show all the money I paid. He says I paid $8500, I paid almost $17,000. I also fired him due to drinking on the job, sloppiness, leaving my home unlocked repeatedly, damaging my furniture, poor workmanship and also trying to inflate a supplemental estimate to my insurance company for a ridiculous amount that I didn’t know about until alter the fact. ...Read More

I have a question regarding customers holding retention. We have a customer who is holding 10% retention on a project. The project has been delayed so they do not have gas or power to test the fireplaces or garage doors. Due to the delays the customer is saying they do not know when they will get gas or power and will not pay until we can test the fireplaces and garage door. The amount he is holding is roughly $4,000.00, but the only thing we need to do not is do labor which totals $750.00. Can the customer hold this much and if they can how long can they hold this amount? ...Read More

I had a new motor Putin my truck by a performance shop. He did it and gave the truck back. He charged 7,500.00 I paid 3,200.00 of it so far. I drove the truck 2 days and the motor started taking coolant and the battery quit charging. I called him. He advised me to bring it back. We have an agreement that I pay weekly payments. I have been paying them. He refuses to fix the problem he caused to the new motor and has now issues a mechanic lien on my truck. Is that legal? Especially since the truck is not fixed?...Read More
