I filed a right to lien on this project on 10/21/21. This was an ongoing project. Started 2/27/21. The last invoice went out on 10/27/21. We didn't file a lien because the sub contractor promised to pay when he got his retention payment. We just found out his is closing the door. They owe us $19,474.98. Are we out of luck because we waited so long?...Read More

Hi, I am a Plumbing Subcontractor in San Jose, CA. We have a public project with a local municipality here and working through a GC. Our contract with the GC is based on T & M. We have worked almost 100% and gotten paid about 50%. We did not file a preliminary notice on this project but filed a stop notice just recently. We think the way to go is to file a bond claim at this time since the GC is not paying us. Our T & M Billings is about $1.8M at the moment. Can you help us out, please? Is there any lawyers available who are familira with CA public constrution laws?...Read More

Hello. We live in Leon County, Florida and have a dispute with our general contractor. He is demanding payment for items that have demonstrably not been done. We have paid his company in two separate draws that fulfill the work he has actually done. We have received no legal paperwork from him demanding payment. We would like to keep it that way. What should be our next steps? We plan to retain counsel. ...Read More
