We hired a contractor to install new windows on a level of our home in Missouri where both direct employees and a subcontractor were utilized. However, it was brought to my attention that one of the workers was NOT an employee of the contractor or subcontractor but was the adult child of one of the employees. This was brought to light when said employee was observed showing their child how to utilize simple tools on site to complete work on the project. ...Read More

I requested additional work to be done with a construction company, which is a framed blown out wall to put an electric fireplace. They produced a change order, and said they needed to build extra support, I then sent them a check for the amount of the change order, it was basically an add on, and was not in the original loan from the bank. However, they never revised the engineered specs/plans, when originally sent to them, I sent a sample of the dimensions of what is to be done, they never drew up professional plans. I then told them I wanted to cancel the additional work, cause it looked like it was not going to be professionally done. I asked for my money back, they told me I had to wait till the interest only loan was closed. This is not part of the loan, I gave them cash to do a change order. Can you tell me my options...Read More

I am a man who lived with a woman as husband and wife for more then a year. Together we purchased a 2017 Chevy pick up from a dealership and financed the truck. It was done for my personal company. Without notice she made me move out and she turned the truck into the dealership to purchase herself a new car. Her reason: she just does not feel the same way about me.... It ended my company ability to operate. I paid over $10,000 on down payment and monthly payments..Not including insurance. Her unwillingness to talk to me required purchasing another truck around $10,0000. The truck is in her name. I paid all. Her income does not support the purchase. Even though we were not technically married we were as such with each other wearing rings. This is the situation along with the dealership could not make the deal with her purchase. The Chevy truck is in her driveway and my understanding up for sale. What do I do? Thank you...Read More

I have a loan on a residential property that I am improving. The renovation loan is a first mortgage that is secured by the property with disbursements as I make improvements that the lender will release. The lender is asking me the borrower/owner to sign lien waivers. I am not aware that I can even file a lien on my open property, and second, how can I waive my rights if I am only waiving them against myself? This is for ALL states. ...Read More

I am a subcontractor who worked on a project doing some cleaning work for a general contractor that never paid me and they won't answer their phone or respond to any communication. I've filed liens and still no response. I'm looking to escalate the case now, am I able to file lawsuit even though I only have a signed work order from the site supervisor for the work we performed? Can I also include the owner of the property in that lawsuit as well since they did not respond to my requests for payment either?...Read More
