We were subcontracted by a National Service company to provide lock repair services to a few local retail shops (~10 separate invoices totaling about $3,000). The national service company has refused to pay their invoices. Can I file a lien directly against the local retailer location? If for nothing else but to put heat on the national service company to pay their submitted invoices. This company has a track record of bilking their subcontractors. How do i protect our retainage without having to file a lien? i know i only have 90 days to file a lien from the last date we provide work or material at jobsite? I'm a subcontractor that completed some work for a general contractor. There was no contract for the work completed. The general contractor requested me to do the work, I did it, then invoiced for the labor and equipment time. The General contractor disagreed with the total cost and only paid 38% of the invoice. The general contractor refuses to pay the remaining amount claiming that the work should not have cost that much. This was an old client that I have known for 10+ years with no issues which is why I jumped to complete the work with no contract or agreed amount. The invoice is 11 months old. In the meantime I have been following up with the General contractor regarding payment only to be lead on with, the GC saying they are going to "look into it", ignoring texts, calls, and emails. The remaining invoice amount to be paid is $80K. ...Read More
