The Washington County Recorder’s Office does not publicly disclose information on recording backlog. However, note that the county’s document turnaround time is three days.

If your construction project is located in Washington County, then yes, you should file your lien here.

Washington County returns documents that are under in fees and usually they return documents if the money is over by $5.00 or more; $5.00 or less they return in cash.

The Washington County Recorder’s recording fees are as follows:

Recording Fees

Basic recording Fees: $28.00 for the first two pages and $8.00 for each additional page

Effective October 17, 2019, statewide recording fees for most documents will increase by $6.00 due to the enactment of HB 166 state budget legislation. The new recording fee for the first two pages will be $34.00 (previously $28.00). Each additional page remains the same as current law at $8.00.

Lien Fees

For Recording MECHANIC’S LIEN Sec. 1311.06: same fee as for deeds, etc.

For Indexing and Recording NOTICE TO COMMENCE SUIT on Mechanic’s Lien:
same fees as release of mortgage or other liens Sec. 1311.11

For recording or making a copy of STATEMENT OF SUBCONTRACTOR, etc. or certificate of the date of such filing for record: same fees as provided in Sec. 317.32. Sec. 1311.29.

PUBLIC FUNDS LIEN Sec. 1311.29: same as Statement of Subcontractor.

Copy Fees

Copies: $2.00 per page
Certified Copies: $2.00 per page plus $1.00 for each seal
